Hello and welcome to my little corner of the earth. As I continue to grow, I want to ensure that I continue to maintain transparency to my tribe (y’all.) I decided I didn’t want to do a typical introduction, but instead, one that’s more unique and direct to who I really am.

My name is Sara and I’m 33 years old. I’m married to my husband, Tommy Jr. for 13 years and we have four children (often referred to as kid 1, kid 2, kid 3 and kid 4) Tommy, III (aka T), Sophia, Mila & Jameson. My husband is an active duty marine and has been for 15 years. I am a freelance writer and content creator with a love and passion to help others in any way I can. I also volunteer at my children’s wrestling club with anything needed from photography to parent newsletters and more.

Now let’s get to the fun part… I’m going to tell you what I am not.

I am NOT going to post unrealistic expectations of myself.

Let’s be real. I have 4 kids in 4 years (11, 10, 8 and 7) and 3 of those children do wrestling 6 days a week. My house is NOT spotless and it won’t be for years to come (especially with my 2 fur babies –huskies, Loki & Freyja.) I am not going to apologize for this because it’s my reality. I would rather be raw and truthful then put on an act that’s unrealistic.

Does this mean that I won’t decorate, won’t post how-to’s, won’t save all the Pinterest-y things, etc? Not at all. In fact, I’ll actually take you with me through the process and sometimes that will happen in one day and other times it will take me weeks cause it keeps getting pushed back. Again, I’m setting realistic expectations.

I have participated in giveaways of large size before, however, after doing a poll of my tribe I am going to be offering small, simple gifts that are directly from me (or from a brand I love) to y’all as a THANK YOU… NOT as a way to gain more followers. I don’t have ads on my blog for a reason, I don’t want this to become ‘all about the money’ (which is funny for me to say since I’m totally upside down on this right now in this business, but either way I’m writing about it so it’s here and y’all can remind me when I need to be humbled, haha.)

I am NOT going to bombard you with sales pitches.

Can I sell? Heck yes! It’s one thing I’m actually pretty confident in, however, that is not the goal of my business. My business is all about service, connecting with others, bringing awareness to different facets of life and more. I don’t have time, nor do I want, to be a salesperson. If you see me post about a product you can rest assured I’m giving you a 100% truthful answer. I will not let someone dictate my opinion, that’s not authentic and authentic is what I want to be.

I am NOT going to act like I’m perfect and my life is as well.

From parenting, to marriage, to military lifestyle, to business one thing is constant, I will screw up! And ya know what? That’s OKAY! I will also give myself grace and I will be raw and truthful about the process. I will post regarding different topics and you may hear me say “oh man I sucked at parenting the other day.” and it’s not a slight at myself or a wish for people to build me up, it’s directly a “hey mama, I see you! We all mess up sometimes and that’s okay! Let’s see if I can relate and help ease some of your anxiety.”

I am NOT going to hide my mental health lifestyle nor my children’s (however, I do ask them if I’m able to share and I only share what they give me permission to.)

I was diagnosed with PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) in May 2010. I was ‘upgraded’ (what a nice way to say that? haha) to Complex-PTSD in 2017. In 2017, I started to speak out regarding my mental health journey. I was then diagnosed MDD (Major Depressive Disorder) and GAD (General Anxiety Disorder) on top of my Complex-PTSD in 2020. These labels do not define me, however, they’ve made for a ‘fun’ journey in life. I love talking about mental health and making people aware of how they can take hold of their own mental health journey.

Every trauma in my life has directly developed me into who I am today. As time progresses, I will begin to post more about my story and my journey through my traumatic events. I will make sure to put “Trigger Warning” so if you know you are battling a certain aspect of life you can skip over that blog/vlog/podcast.

I am NOT an alcoholic beverage drinker.

Look, it’s not you… it’s me. No really, IT IS ME! I support friends who have healthy relationships with alcohol. Heck, two of my husbands gifts in 2020 WERE alcohol. For me, it’s just not a healthy relationship so it’s either all or nothing. I don’t need you to hide it nor tiptoe around me. I also won’t shame you nor beg you to stop drinking cause reality is you won’t unless you want to and I don’t think everyone should abstain from alcohol.

I am NOT close to my goal.

I’ve been doing this for about a month now. My goal is to continue to grow and make a bigger impact on those around me, near and far. I am doing this long-term and look forward to branching out into other platforms such as podcasts, vlogs and more.

I am NOT focused on the NUMBER in my tribe, but the tribe in my numbers!

What does that mean exactly? It means that while I love you referring me to your friends, I don’t want spam-referrals. I want to make genuine contact with my tribe and be engaged. I want to be part of your life and a safe space for you. I don’t want to know you as a number but to know you as a friend (irony at it’s finest since I call my own children by birth order number, haha, in fairness that’s a C-PTSD issue but nonetheless I find it humorous.) If you want to refer me to people please know that my goal is to be genuine with them and to help them in some way and they will not be viewed as a number.

*Yes, I did celebrate when I hit 1k followers on Instagram with a fun post. I will likely continue to do so on monumental amounts, however, please know that I am thanking y’all for the genuine connections and growth in my tribe.

If I’m NOT all of those things… then what am I?

I am a wife to an active duty marine that isn’t always super motivated about the Marine Corps or the state of our country.

I am a wife that has flaws and is resentful at times for decisions made by my husband.

I am a mother who occasionally yells and makes the wrong choice in regards to parenting.

I am a mother of children who have endured trauma.

I am a mother of children who have multiple medicinal concerns/diagnosis.

I am a mother who fights every single day to be the best mother I can for my kids.

I am a friend who will never judge you. I guarantee I’ve either done worse, or have a friend who has.

I am a friend who you can trust and will keep it confidential. Need to blow off some steam because you’re just angry at your spouse but you know it’s not worth the fight? Cool, lemme know! Need to come over and complain about having your kid(s) home during a pandemic because you can’t catch a break? Sweet! I’m your girl!

I am a mental health warrior. I’ve endured multiple different methods of therapy and seen therapists on and off for over a decade. I currently go weekly and see a therapist. My children all see therapists weekly as well. Trauma happens, that’s part of life, but I’m a huge advocate for keeping a healthy mind and teaching yourself and your children proper coping skills and grounding techniques.

I am an individual that views YOU as an individual. I will cheer you on for all your goals and I will clap loudly and patiently as you hit your achievements. I will reach down and help you up the ladder along the way. I will genuinely LISTEN to you and not just hear what you’re saying. I will never suggest you do something that I wouldn’t/haven’t done myself.

I promise each and every one of you that I will be transparent with everything that I do. I genuinely am head over heels in love with the idea of sharing my story and it helping even just ONE person. You will see me with a mom bun, yesterday’s tshirt, drinking some coffee and then the next day you could see me hair down, make up — let’s be real I just do the eyes even PRE-pandemic, out at a wrestling tournament scurrying around taking pictures.

You will hear me talk about parenting, marriage, friendship, person-ship and more relationships to cover their trials and tribulations, as well as to shoutout the wins big or small.

You will see me be relatable.

You will see me start something and not finish it.

You will see me relive old traumas.

You will see me fight for my mental well-being.

You will see me fight for my children to be kind in a world where kindness seems forgotten.

You will see me discouraged.

You will see me vulnerable.

You will see me fall.

You will see me fail.

You will see me reach my goal of helping even just ONE person.

You will see me adapt.

You will see me overcome.

You will see me grow.

You will see me being me.

From the beginning of this, my whole intention has been to be transparent and help others. I will not be posting ads and if I post a product it will be because I WANT TO not because someone is telling me the opinion that I should have.

I will be accessible. You can contact me on any platform and I will be here to listen and/or help where I can. I take this very seriously and operate this as a full-time business running overtime daily that I’m not getting paid for. I’ve been doing this for about 6 weeks now and that’s not changed, so I feel confident in saying it to y’all.

I also LOVE questions! Or pick a topic and I’ll work something up! I want to shoutout everyone’s wins, big or small! I want to start a movement of “Simply Sara Strong Sundays” where every Sunday my tribe shouts out a friend, family member or stranger for being an awesome human being and exemplifying some sort of strength no matter how big or small. Your neighbor held the elevator door for you? SOLID JOB SIR!!! Way to be a great human being!

Welcome to my tribe. I’m blessed to have you here! Make sure you subscribe so you will be notified anytime I write a new blog post and don’t forget to stay in touch on my other social media platforms as well!
